After just two years in existence, Instagram Stories feature is already boasting of 300 million daily users. Started as a direct competitor to Snapchat, it offers businesses a massive reach and great engagement. The 20% of stories posted results in a direct interaction with users.

No wonder then that 88% of businesses  plan on increasing their posts to Instagram Stories in 2018, while 30% of brands plan to create Instagram ads.

According to the infographic below, most brands use these stories to increase brand awareness and sales, promote new products, run campaigns, reach new customers, hold Q&A sessions, promote upcoming or live events, provide product demonstrations and guides, use influencers to promote products/host influencers, run ads, and take followers behind the scenes.

For instance, HiSmile, a teeth whitening company, run a campaign with Conor McGregor to engage with young men. It resulted in 90% increase in male customers and a high return on ads investment.[irp]

Lego used Canvas ads to increase awareness and sales, which resulted in a 58% lower cost per click, while Mac cosmetics uses Instagram Stories to demonstrate to their customers how to apply lipstick, eyeliner, and shadow for better selfies.
