EMAIL MARKETING or SOCIAL MEDIA? WHICH WORKS BEST FOR B2C

What is B2C? Business to consumer (B2C) is a form of business or transaction between a company and consumer who are the end-users of its products or services. B2C is among the most popular known sales models. Businesses that rely on B2C must maintain a good relationship with their consumers to ensure that they keep coming back.

Then, which would we say works best for B2C? As we know that email marketing or social media has its up’s and down’s, they work best for different marketing strategy and target. If your target audience is the youths and young ones, then social media marketing would be most preferred. But if your target audience is the elderly above 35) then your preferred option would most likely be email marketing.

EMAIL MARKETING

With email marketing, email lists need to be carefully refined to reach its desired target. Meaning that buying or purchasing of mailing list wouldn’t help. With email marketing, you want people that actually want to hear from you on your email list, which buying off the list doesn’t necessarily provide.[irp]

Moreso, with email marketing, you have to jump through a series of loops before safe-landing in a person’s email. On the receivers end, poor communication or poor email design and content could be the start of losing supposed customers. Some could even make the emails as spams.

But the greatest challenge with emailing would be getting to know your target or audience. Channel the right communications that will get them interested and eventually become subscribers. Maintaining consistent, relevant, effective communications with prospective customers helps to retain loyal subscriber-based-customers.

SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING

The main purpose of social media marketing is to propagate brand awareness. This way people get to know about your business. They get to know what products and services you offer, and generally, kept in the loop of recent updates and promotional offers. Social media marketing has its unique way of getting customers. But the way you go about it is what matters the most, especially for the desired audience you are targeting. By blogging, updating and posting pictures and videos, your audience can easily share them. Or refer friends to it, helping to expand your horizon of awareness.

As a natural by-product, social media marketing strategies tend to increase website traffic. This, in turn, leads to a higher ranking in SERP’s. But don’t forget that even if brand posts and videos are seen by its audience, it takes much more effort in converting them to customers.[irp]

Both email marketing or social media have their pros and cons. A proper research on them and proper coordination of the preferred means should get you to your desired end goal. Email marketing is more beneficial for B2C, drives more sales and cultivates loyalty amongst customers. This doesn’t mean that social media marketing doesn’t do a great deal of effort for you in getting loyal customers.
